So since King season is done yesterday was my first day of bottom fishing for Reds. Got out there after work on a rising tide with frozen finger mullet for bait. Fishing for three hours with two rods I fillet one side of a finger mullet putting that on one rod and the rest of the finger mullet with the fillet missing on the bigger rod. I started talking to those I knew and within 10 minutes my big rod is bending over with a fish on. Worked it to the net and got it on deck and it's a 18.5 inch Red Drum. An hour later while reeling in the fillet rod slow I picked up a 15 inch flounder. I did see quite a few under Red Drum caught on shrimp but I was fishing mullet. Today the bite was a lot better. I brought out one dozen finger mullets and fished them all catching 9 Red Drum and 4 Speckled Trout. I did catch three of the Specs on artificial lures.
