Here we go again..My son and I went down to Wal-mart yesterday evening and picked up a couple of new lures..I bought a Spook Jr and my son got himself an X-caliber squarebill crankbait..So we went down to the pond to test them out today.Well I didnt do to well on the Spook so I tied on my Koppers golden shiner and I nailed about 3 dinks including this Bluegill that went to the extreme to get my lure..haha..I'll get back to that in a minute!

So my son ties on his new X-caliber and was running it along the bank by some sunken branches..He said he felt a strike on the 1st cast so he reeled in and threw the crank right back in the same spot a 2nd time and WHAM!He hooks this huge Bass!..I was about 100 yards away from him and I heard him shouting for me..So I took off running to him..As I got nearer he says "wait til you see this one pops" he lifts her up to give me a peek and I said "oh yeah,she's 10 pounds" Well we weighed it and weighed in at 7.15 pounds 1 ounce shy of 8 pounds!I thought it was a 10 pounder for sure! So close!We released the lunker back into the pond and watched her swim away..As we were leaving we seen my neighbor the owner of the pond..We showed him the picture of my son holding the bass and he said "you know what makes me happier than seeing that fish is to see the smile on your boys face"
Priceless! Way to go son!

Ok back to the Bluegill..So my golden shiner gets hung up in a tree and is dangling from a branch about 4 inches from the water..I seen this 8 oz Bluegill jump out of the water for my lure and gets hung up with it in the tree..haha..of course I got them both out safely..
