This is a Great story of two Flingers at Bay River Camp Ground!! The day started out with Nice Specs busting bait and eager to hit !!! Eddie (Yakattack) had the most and biggest as you will see. We had a ball with the Specs...I started using the fly rod (6 wt) with a craft fur streamer and picked up close to 15 Specs and some hitting close to 18 inches ! Eddie had a stellar day! I know he caught 25 plus Specs on popping cork and a few pups too but the BIG story is in the pics. He was after a flounder trying to get an inshore slam. Eddie was using a 6 1/2 ft spinning rod with 15 pound braid with 10 lbs fluorocarbon leader and a Blue Candy Jig Head with 3 in New Penny Gulp. We worked our way down to Trent Creek and Eddie made a cast to a known Red Fish area and he twitched it once and WHAM!!! The fish started to spool the reel ! We both knew it was not a ray by the head shakes and that it was BIG!! Eddie played her like a pro and in about 20 mins in the battle we saw the huge red tail and the adrenaline really kicked in!! The big red put up a great fight, she towed him close to a mile and for a full hour all the way from Trent Creek to right across Bay River Camp Ground. She was following the main channel to bigger water. I was along for the ride to net the fish...I knew I did not have a net large enough for the task ahead so I called the Camp Ground and Frank answered . I told him Eddie had a very large Red and we needed a bigger net, he sent George out in a boat with a net and came to us but the net was the same size as the one I had so George went back and returned with the biggest net they had!! It is good to have great friends, that are going the extra step!! Thanks Frank and George!!! Eddie got the Red to the top and I got the brute in one try. He easily got the Blue Candy Jig out of the corner of it's mouth ,we always bend the barb down.It did not take long to revive her and she kicked off on her own power...we were concerned with the long fight time and did not take time to measure. I will conclude this long story with the proof ,the pics!! I want to congratulate Eddie on the great catch !! He had the skill to do the job!!
A special thanks to George for taking these pics !!
