Monday we arrived at the cottage, put our gear away, grabbed a quick bite to take with us on the river and hit it. We made a run to check out and catch bait. Bull Reds were the quarry we were after. High winds made it hard to find bait but we did gather a few finger mullet, a couple of menhaden and pinfish. So with limited bait we still managed to put some in the boat.

We sat up the first night and things were slow for this time of year, according to what we have caught in past years. We did manage to put one in the boat at 41 inches. A rain drop hit the lens of the camera so this one is a little fuzzy on top.

We dodged a lot of afternoon showers so we spent a lot of time on the water watching these. Luckly the storms just grazed by us with only winds and a few sprinkles of rain.

Tuesday morning was calm and loads of bait at the boat dock. We loaded down with menhaden and headed to Garbacon Shoals to check out the action.
Check out the spotson this 49 inch one....

We put a few in the boat and headed out to chase outer quarry. We hit one area trying for puppy drum or trout and Bobby's first cast yielded a 32 inch red caught on a white Zman MinnowZ bait.

Wednesday we had some great company to come out and play with us...SteveF. We had a ball, it just turned out that Bobby and Steve both grew up in the same area and fished the same holes. So it turned into a reunion on the water. Small world out there. The first reel starts screaming so its Steves turn up at ""bat"".

Yep Steve has a nice bow in his rod and line is screaming off the reel and making a turn around the boat. Oh did I say ............
Nice pullage on the line and Steve has a nice bow in his rod. Yep these like menhaden also.

A couple more pics of the day..

We also had a 3 man limit of grey trout that were invited home to be the guest of honor for supper. We caught lots of them but they live to fight another day. A few speckled trout were in the mix but all short.

Thursday morning we got up early and hit the water at day break. We made a long run and hit an area for trout and reds. We casted a stretch and nothing. Then Bobby hit a 14 inch speckled trout. I put on a topwater plug "Ba Donka Donk" and it was game on. They hit it with a vengeance and we put em in the boat. We had a lot of blowups that missed the baits. We did have some hit grubs and Mirrolure M27.

This is a shot of a 2 man limit of Speckled Trout waiting there turn at the fillet knife.

My camera batteries went dead so I am waiting on some pics to be sent to me. I'll fill in some blanks when the pics get to me.
