First time I've gotten out in a while with the heat of the summer and reports of bad fishing. My mother in law brought my niece with her for a couple days so we took her over to OHL to some jugging and catfishing. Skies were cloudy, water was really good looking and 86.7 F when we put on, and the wind was blowing pretty good as well. Caught plenty of shad on the "bubbles" for bait, but they were all small and we had to go back into a cove to find some bigger ones. Set out 10 jugs several times and most would get hit before we started after them as we were anchoring and putting out lines while we waited. More of just a "fun" trip, but we did try to get my niece on some better fish . . . not tonight. Caught 15-20 through the evening with the best 2 pictured and the rest going 6-12" which is why we got plenty of hits on the jugs and lines, but not as many hookups. Between chasing jugs, reeling fish in, playing in the water, and playing with the bait (disecting, making sushi, and having anatomy lessons) the girls had a fun time and me Zach stayed busy enough managing all the equipment. When we got off the lake we found a bunch of tree frogs so Emily let one of those hang on her face. Fun evening with the kids and nice to just be back out on the water. This was Rylie's 1st experience jugging and possibly catfishing in general and I think she enjoyed it.
