This is a pic of my son with my first longnose gar, caught it in 100+ degree heat around noon on sat with a large (4-5") minnow. We saw it first and then dangled the bait right in front of it and it took it. Luckily I had some heavy tackle ready (20lb test) and a net and we got it on the dock. We were so excited we forgot to measure and weigh it... It looks to be about 4'long and I'd guess about 10-15 pounds. Then we got a 5lb and 10 lb catfish right around dusk on a worm set at about 4' deep with a bobber and several other small cats.
