I fished Falls Lake today with my brother, forum member Nucanoe2. We paddle our Nucanoes to a location that we'd never fished before that is very close to spots that I usually fish. The wind was blowing us around so much that we almost gave up, but we stuck with it. We tried several of our favorite lures - white beetle spins with blood red eyes, 4" motor oil green worms, rooster tails - and it smelling like skunk. We found a location that was sheltered from the wind, parked the Chub Tubs, and fished the bank.
We have been reading all your posts on the forum about the deadly Senko worms. We don't know too much about them because we were raised up on 4" motor oil green worms with a swirly tail on a Carolina rig. All the talk about going Weightless and Wacky style seemed odd to us, but after seeing all the lunkers hauled in on the Senko, we had to try it.
After 6 hours on Falls with the Senko, we were converted. We snagged 5 LMBs, mostly in the 1 to 3 lb range. I hauled in the biggest catch of the day, my PB, which we neither measured nor weighed. I caught on a slow roll with a 5" watermelon green Yamamoto worm. I know it was bigger than my previous record, but not as big as the 10 pounder our father snagged on a Pop-R lure out of Motten Leonard's Pond some years ago.
I picked up a lottery ticket on the way home. I figured that I should go for the Jack Pot since Lady Luck seemed to be on my side today.
